Artistic Statement
Mr. Davidson's training in Graham, Horton and Taylor, the Tanztheatre traditions of Kurt Joss, as well as his background in classical ballet, Giordano and Luigi based Jazz technique, Pilates and Butoh serve as a springboard for a vibrant, personalized approach to dance. In the studio he emphasizes sound placement and the kinetic organization of the body, as well as sophisticated vocabulary designed to challenge the dancer to explore their unique expressive potential. Mr. Davidson is a highly sought after teacher, performer and choreographer due to his high energy level, articulate and intelligent attention to detail, and the beautiful yet coherent composition of his classes. Bold athleticism and aesthetic sensitivity are integrated into an energetic and supportive atmosphere with respect to applying technical ideals to the geography of each individualís instrument. His philosophy is that these ideals can be applied to unique and diverse bodies while maintaining the integrity of its physical and aesthetic benefits. The goal is to utilize the technique class, the creative process, and the performance experience as a vehicle that may enable the kinetic artist to be confident, strong, and sensitive to their personal vision. In this respect, each dancer may be better prepared as they continue on their journey to find a tangible expression of who they are.
